Who we are
NW Iron Works is a family-owned custom metal fabrication shop in Vancouver, WA. Oleg Lupekha started it in 2002 with a simple standard: build it right, and build it to last. More than two decades later, that hasn't changed — his sons run the shop now, and his standards are still in every weld.
We design, fabricate, and install custom steel railings, floating staircases, glass rail systems, cable railings, gates, and residential structural steel for homeowners, contractors, and builders across Clark County and the greater Portland metro. Every project is built in our Vancouver shop and installed by our own crew — never subcontracted out.
What sets us apart
We pair old-school craftsmanship with technology most shops in the area simply don't have. A Trimble X9 3D scanner captures your space to the millimeter, and our Bodor T3 fiber laser cuts to match — so what we build fits the first time and finishes clean. It's the difference between a railing that was measured and one that was engineered to your home.
That matters most where errors accumulate. A stair run that is a half inch out of square across sixteen feet will put a hand-measured guard below the 36 inches minimum required by the 2021 Washington State Residential Code (R312.1.2) — and nobody finds out until the inspector puts a tape on it. The scan catches that before we cut steel.
How a project actually runs
- Send photos or plans. We come back with a rough number, usually within one business day.
- We scan the site. Only after the rough number works for you — no point spending your afternoon otherwise.
- Exact, itemized quote. Built from the scan, not from an estimate.
- Fabrication. Cut, welded and fitted in our Vancouver shop. Steel lead time runs 1-2 weeks.
- Finish and install. Powder coat in under a week, then installed by our own crew.
Typical timeline is 4-8 weeks from deposit to installed. Terms are 50% deposit, 50% on completion.

Residential structural steel only at this time. Commercial structural work is not our current focus, and we would rather say so than take a job we are not set up for.

From our shop at 7501 NE 47th Ave, Vancouver, WA 98661, we serve Clark County and the greater Portland/Vancouver metro — Vancouver, Camas, Battle Ground, Ridgefield, Washougal, Portland, Lake Oswego and West Linn. Shop hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Neither. Everything is fabricated in our own Vancouver shop and installed by our own crew. One team is accountable from the first scan through the final fastener, which is why there is nobody to point at when something needs to be made right.
What equipment do you use, and why does it matter?
A Trimble X9 3D laser scanner and a Bodor T3 fiber laser. The scanner captures the site as it was actually built rather than as it was drawn, and the laser cuts parts to match that scan. It removes the single most expensive failure in custom metalwork: parts fabricated from a hand measurement that turn out not to fit.
Who do you work with — homeowners, builders, or both?
Both. We fabricate for general contractors, custom-home builders, architects and designers, and we work directly with homeowners. We are a 2x Street of Dreams featured builder partner and a 2x Clark County Parade of Homes award winner.
