What actually controls the schedule
It is almost never fabrication.
Material lead time (1–2 weeks) is the hard floor. Nothing gets ordered until there is a deposit, so the clock genuinely starts at commitment, not at conversation.
The decision window is the stage that stretches schedules most, and it is entirely on the customer side. A quote that sits for three weeks before approval is three weeks added to the finish date, and it is the most common reason a railing shows up later than someone hoped.
Powder coating is not the bottleneck. It turns around in under a week. This surprises people who have been told otherwise.
For builders and GCs
Bring us in at framing, and at design for anything structural.
Scanning before drywall means we cut to the actual geometry and, just as usefully, we find framing that is out of square while it is still cheap to fix rather than after the rail does not fit. On floating staircases and structural steel, early involvement means connection details get coordinated with the engineer instead of being improvised on site with a crane waiting.
Tell us the date the space will be ready. Most custom-home schedules are driven by the build, not by our shop, and we would rather work backward from your date than hand you ours.
How to make it faster
- Send photos early, even before you are ready to commit. The rough number takes about a day and costs you nothing.
- Approve promptly. The deposit is what starts material.
- Decide the finish with the quote. Color changes after fabrication mean a second trip through powder coat.
- Give us access. An install that has to work around other trades takes longer than one with the space to itself.
